Forklift accident kills Festus man

Robert Jett, 54, of Festus, died Monday after being pinned under a forklift at Schroeder & Tremayne Inc. The company is located at 8500 Valcour Avenue in the Afton area. The company distributes a variety of household products. The forklift toppled off a loading dock and onto Jett at approximately 9:35. Rescuers used a second forklift to lift the forklift off Jett but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later at St. Anthony's Medical Center. The accident is being investigated by OSHA. Robert Jett had worked in this capacity for the company for the past 18 years. Schroeder & Tremayne Inc. employs approximately 40 persons.
